Here is a set of meal, not only one plate. In this set, there are four kinds in this set. Mostly, people in Shan State like it. It is very strange taste to me and I think you also want to try it.  Today, it was prepared in my house. So I want to share you today.

Four plates include:

  • Fish curry with chili (spicy curry)
  • Pearl bean and cucumber soup (cool soup)
  • Collard greens(Mone Nyinn) (sweet vegatable)
  • Cucumber (just slice it)

Requirements for all plates

  1. Fish
  2. chili
  3. Pearl bean
  4. cucumber
  5. palm sugar, tamarind
  6. onion, ginger and oil, salt, fish sauce

How to do Fish curry with chili?

  • Fried fish and it is cooked with chili, onion and ginger.

How to do Pearl bean and cucumber soup?

  • Just boil cucumber and pearl bean together for 30 minutes.

How to do Collard greens (Mone Nyinn)

  • Collard greens is fried together with palm sugar and tamarind.

If these four are tried together as a set of meal. I realize you will get complete life.  They have different taste and different advantages on us in the viewpoint of health. 🙂

Tofu Hnew

Tofu Hnew

Tofu Hnew is a Shan food and famous in Myanmar. It is very delicious. We can eat it as lunch or dinner or just snack.

How to do it is the same way of Shan Noodle and just add on it pea flour soup.

This pea flour soup can be made in the easiest way.
First, you need to grind one pack(100g) pea flour mixed a glass of water using blander. Then you pour it into pot and add another two glass of water and put it in stove. you need very low heat and stir it continuously not to be dry. After 10 minutes, you will get pea flour.
If it is added into Shan Noodle, it can be called as Tofu Hnew.
I wanna to eat while i still post it 🙂

It is the first meal of Shan food I ate. After high school, I ate it first time in Hlendan (in Yangon). I liked it very much. Now I can do it myself 🙂

Shan Noodle

Shan noodle is one of the famous Myanmar food. It is very delicious. Most of the Myanmar like it and I also like it. It is derived from Shan State which is east part of Myanmar. We can eat it as lunch or dinner or just snack.

Requirements:

  1. Dried shan noodle
  2. Chicken or Pork
  3. Onion, chilli, garlic, ginger
  4. Oil, chicken powder, salt, fish sauce, light soya bean sauce
  5. Peanut, sesame, onion tops

How to do?

1. Before starting cooking it, we need to put the dried shan noodle into water in appropriate pot for around 12 hours in order to have better taste in noodle.

2. First, meat (chicken or pork) must be boiled with ginger, some salt and chicken powder for 30 minutes. Then, boiled chicken should be removed from fires in order to make cold. After it, those chicken is needed to cut into suitable size (small size). Then,  We need to cook this small pieces of chicken with onion, oil, and garlic. In which, suitable amount of salt, fish sauce, chicken powder should be poured.

3. You need to pound peanut and sesame separately.  Onion tops also should be cut down.

These above three steps are preparing for doing Shan noodle which look like salad.

How to salad?

1. First,  boil water and put dried noodle into it for just 3 minutes. After that, take noodle and put it in bowl.

2. Then, you can pour one spoon of chicken curry, light soya bean sauce, pounded peanut and sesame, cut onion tops.

3. Mix all.

If you need in taste, you can add some salt or fish sauce and chicken powder.

Now, you can eat your shan noodle eagerly and can eat more than one plate/bowl.

Note: Some ate it mixing chicken soup. If you want it, you can just pour chicken soup into your salad (shan noodle).
